Payments

Issuing federal payments is one of the primary functions of the Bureau of the Fiscal Service.  The mission of our agency is to create a seamless end-to-end process that is all-electronic from the first transaction through settlement: more agile, efficient, and resilient.

In Fiscal Year 2025, the bureau centrally disbursed 88.10% of all federal payments and securely disbursed nearly 1.33 billion payments, totaling $6.02 trillion, at an electronic rate of 96.96%. Payments were 100% on time.
