Bureau's Office of Financial Integrity Receives 2026 Fraud Fighters of the Year Award
Washington, D.C. — The Bureau of the Fiscal Service (BFS) Office of Financial Integrity was recently recognized with the 2026 Fraud Fighters of the Year Award by the Washington, DC, Metro Area Chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE). The award recognizes the team’s work to strengthen fraud prevention through expansion and modernization of the Treasury’s Do Not Pay program, the federal government’s primary payment integrity and eligibility verification platform.
Over the past year, the Office of Financial Integrity has expanded agencies' access to Do Not Pay, implemented new payment verification capabilities, and increased the trusted data sources available to agencies. In fiscal year 2025, Treasury’s payment integrity efforts helped prevent, detect, and recover more than $11.7 billion in improper payments. In fiscal year 2026, with the implementation of payment verification, Treasury has screened more than one billion payments, representing over $3.5 trillion. As a result, Treasury prevented more than 10,000 payments worth $150 million that would have gone to deceased persons.
