Government Office Seeks Conversations with Innovative Industry Representatives

Date: October 12, 2018

We’ve all experienced that Friday afternoon slump at work. Your morning started out great. After you finished your cup of joe, you’ve cruised through finishing the morning’s tasks. But come that hour after lunch time you find yourself ready to take a nap. You can’t concentrate. Time is moving slower than a sloth. You need a pick-me-up to get you through the rest of the day. If you are an industry representative and this sounds like a typical Friday afternoon, the Office of Financial Innovation and Transformation (FIT) has a remedy for you.

In 2018, we established our Financial Management (FM) Innovation Program with the goal of raising awareness in the federal community of emerging innovations that can achieve the following in federal financial management (FFM):

  • Increase productivity
  • Reduce waste
  • Improve effectiveness
  • Achieve economies of scale

Enter our Industry Afternoons, an opportunity for Industry representatives to share innovative solutions that may address Federal Financial Management needs. Starting on October 5th this event will be held every other Friday at the Bureau of Fiscal Service’s Washington, DC office. All we ask is that industry representatives come prepared to discuss:

  • An identified, preexisting FM business problem or need
  • An innovative idea or solution that will address the FM business problem or need AND
  • How your idea or solution will address the FM business problem or need (incorporating a use-case, walk-through example, etc.)

FIT’s mission in the Bureau of Fiscal Service, Department of the Treasury, is to identify, incubate, and advance cutting-edge financial management solutions. Information provided during industry afternoons will be used to educate FM professionals government-wide. We ask that you only provide information that can be distributed throughout Fiscal Service, Treasury, and government agencies.

If you are interested in sharing your ideas, please complete and submit the form below to reserve your session! If there are no time slots available that can accommodate your schedule, e-mail us directly at FIT@fiscal.treasury.gov with the subject “Innovation Afternoons – Scheduling”. You can also stop by our booth at the ACT-IAC Executive Leadership Conference in Philadelphia, PA from October 14-16, 2018. FIT staff will be happy to answer any questions you may have on building strategic relationships between our office and industry. We hope to see you there!
