IRS Debtor Address Information


Agencies wishing to participate in a computer matching program with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to obtain mailing addresses of debtors in batches of 100 or more should contact:

Agencies wishing to obtain mailing addresses from IRS for individual debtors should contact the local disclosure officer in the IRS office in the State where the agency is located. You can access your local IRS office information at http://www.irs.gov.

For a detailed description and agency requirements for computer matching, refer to the Privacy Act of 1974, As Amended.

Contact with the TAR Manager must include the following:

  • Description of your agency's purpose for requesting and how agency will use the taxpayers address;
  • The Internal Revenue Code Section permitting your agency to request address information from the IRS;
  • The approximate number of annual requests for addresses you anticipate will be made;
  • Name, title, address, phone and FAX number of the person responsible for administering and maintaining this program if/when your agency begins computer matching.

Note: Participation in computer matching requires the agency to provide IRS with the taxpayer's Social Security Number (SSN) and name.

DO NOT SEND TAXPAYER INFORMATION SUCH AS NAME AND SSN OVER THE FAX MACHINE.
